Audio Creations isn’t just a shop. It’s a standard of excellence that has been decades in the making.
Our journey began in California in 1975, where Mark Picogna first started pushing the boundaries of automotive customization. At just 17 years old, Mark took on his first full custom build, transforming a little white 1979 Datsun truck from bumper to bumper. He spent two years perfecting every detail, completing the project at 19 while living in Southern California. That dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail became the foundation for everything Audio Creations represents today.
That same West Coast passion and innovation moved to Birmingham in 1985, and we've been the region's premier destination for aftermarket customization ever since.
With more than 260 trophies earned since 1996, features in five major publications, and 13 certified specialties, we don't just install equipment. We engineer experiences. From Birmingham to Mountain Brook, we're the oldest, most experienced, and most meticulous customization company in the business.

When the biggest brands need the ultimate statement piece, they call Mark. We designed and built the Ultimate Tailgate System for three major Budweiser distributors: Birmingham Budweiser, Champagne Beverage Co. (Covington, LA), and Eagle Distributing Co. (Knoxville, TN).
These H₂ Hummers are marvels of automation. With a single button press:
A 42" plasma TV cabinet rolls out from the rear.
Side windows retract to reveal dual 15" LCD monitors.
Hidden speaker boxes emerge featuring 4–12” subwoofers.
The system screams via 2600 watts of Memphis Power, pushing 8 - 6”x9” speakers.
Complete with integrated gaming consoles, wireless microphones for karaoke, and a full PA system, it’s more than a vehicle—it's a mobile event. As Birmingham Budweiser put it, “The best advertising money could buy.”

For 27 years, Mark Rankin was more than just a teammate; he was the heart of this shop and he helped build the reputation for excellence that Audio Creations stands on today. Though he passed away in 2020, his craftsmanship, dedication, and spirit remain a permanent part of every wire we run and every system we tune. Part of every window tint and wire we do in all of our builds.
